The AHS Men’s Soccer Team has a couple of convincing wins over Anson and an impressive come-from-behind win over South Stanly as the team enters the meat of its conference schedule. The ‘Dogs travel to South Stanly tomorrow, Monday, October 3rd, for a rematch the Rebel Bulls. Monday’s match is their only action this week.
The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team claimed a historic win — their first in over two years — over North Rowan this season and are taking massive strides in their rebuilding efforts under first year coach Samantha Malinda.
Bulldog cross country, though small, is making their presence felt as Reyli Alvarez consistently finishes in the top 5 in races.
The Bulldog football team, celebrating 100 years, is grinding its way through a difficult schedule. Only 3 teams from the Bulldogs 10 game slate are in the ‘Dogs classification. Albemarle is 1-5 entering Friday’s homecoming game versus South Stanly. The win was a strong 57-12 showing in Black Mountain against Owen High School. The Bulldogs dropped a hearbreaker to Anson the following week, losing after taking a late lead due to a fortunate break for Anson on the ensuing kickoff. Look for the Bulldogs to make their presence felt in the remainder of their 1A/2A split conference schedule. To lock down a playoff spot, the ‘Dogs need to beat South Stanly and Union Academy. To clinch a home game the ‘Dogs will need to add a win against either 2A North Stanly or 2A Mount Pleasant.
