Fall Athletic Season Starts This Week

After a summer of workouts the Bulldogs are back in action for the fall athletic season starting this Tuesday.

Under the leadership of new head coach, Samantha Malinda, the volleyball Bulldogs get their season underway as Anson comes to town on Tuesday for a JV/Varsity doubleheader. The action will get underway with a 4:30 JV start. The Bulldogs return a lot of young talent from a program that is building, including sophomore Jasmine Brown. Brown represented the Bulldogs on the all-conference team last season. The Bulldogs will also play host to North Rowan in a JV/Varsity doubleheader on Thursday starting at 4:30.

Tuesday is also the season debut for the Bulldog Men’s Soccer team. Coach Daniel Ubaldo returns to coach his second season for his alma-mater and will be assisted by the head women’s coach, Brittani Waldrip. The Bulldogs lost a small handful of seniors from the program but are being bolstered by an influx of young talent off a solid Albemarle Middle School side last spring. The ‘Dogs travel to Anson for a 6:00pm kick.

The week will finish up with the kickoff of the 100th season of Albemarle Bulldog Football as longtime rival Thomasville visits Bulldog Stadium for a 7:30pm kickoff on Friday night. The Bulldogs return most of a team that won the 1A side of their 1A/2A conference last fall. Coach Richard Davis will lead the Bulldogs in his 6th season at the helm of the program. The Bulldogs will rely on a strong group of young talent to build on their 2021 playoff appearance.
