Look Back, Look Ahead, August 30th
The Bulldogs lost a couple of hard-fought contests last week, falling 3-0 to Salisbury in volleyball on Wednesday before dropping a tough football game to West Stanly, 34-14.
Bulldog volleyball, with a roster full of newcomers and missing a couple of key players, rebounded from a tough first set to compete hard in sets 2 and 3. The Bulldogs will be on the road this week, playing at South Stanly on Tuesday evening.
Bulldog football, following a tough loss on the road to Thomasville where a difficult early third quarter snowballed into a lopsided scoreboard, showed energy, heart, and fight in the home opener.
After going down 18-0 at the half, the Bulldogs battled back with a touchdown and a stop before a turnover deep in their own territory allowed West Stanly to pull away. The Bulldogs refused to lay down and ultimately went blow for blow in the second half with the Colts, falling by a final score of 34-14.
The Bulldogs are back in Bulldog Stadium this Friday at 7:30 as the Owen Warhorses make the trip to Bulldog Country from Black Mountain. Owen fell to Chase High School by a score of 55-6 in their home opener on Friday.
