Bulldogs Complete a Varsity Sweep of Anson

In the Battle of The A, the ‘Dogs took 5/6 from Anson.

While the JV boys faltered on the road, the Varsity Girls turned in another dominant win over the Bearcats, 51-29, while the Varsity Boys opened up a 10 point lead in the first quarter and held the Bearcats at arm’s length for the rest of the night in a 56-47 win.

Jasmine Brown led the girls with 12 points, and Kai Spencer & Amari Baldwin both added 10 points each. Amari continued to rack up steals and assists, with 7 of each.

The Lady Bulldogs had 13 players rotate into the game and saw 11 different players score points.

The win improved the Lady Bulldogs to 4-2. They open their region schedule on Friday night at home against Mount Pleasant. Tipoff will be at 6pm, following the JV Boys game, which will tip at 4:30.

Meanwhile the Varsity Boys won their 3rd consecutive game to improve to 3-4 on the season. Anson jumped out to an early lead with a couple of quick 3 pointers, but the ‘Dogs fought back to tie the score at 8-8 before going on a run to open up a 10 point lead. Anson struggled to get any closer as the ‘Dogs closed out the Bearcats with a 56-47 win.

Malakhi Gatewood, Omare Price, and Ali Currie led the Bulldogs in scoring.

The Bulldogs, having started the conference schedule last Friday with a convincing 71-47 victory over fellow 1A conference member South Stanly, welcome Mount Pleasant on Friday night at 7:30, or 10 minutes following the end of the girls game.

Stay tuned for ticket information for Friday’s games.
