Spring Sports Season Starts

The Spring 2022 sports season is underway for the Bulldogs.

AHS Women’s Soccer got started last night with a tough, hard fought 9-0 loss to South Stanly. In the first-ever soccer action for many of the 24 girls on the roster, the Bulldogs were able to gain experience as they head into their schedule. The Lady Bulldogs, coached by Brittani Waldrip and Daniel Ubaldo, have their first home match on Wednesday, March 16th as they play host to West Stanly High School at 6:00. The Bulldogs are bringing baseball back this year with a junior varsity squad coached by Josh Schrump. His son, Zach, and Dre Davis will toe the rubber for much of the season for the ‘Dogs and be key contributors at First Base and Shortstop when they’re not on the mound. Tyquan McDonald and Christian Harris will complete the ‘Dogs infield and they will plan to play outfield by committee. The first Track Meet of the 2022 season was pushed back from last Thursday to today, Tuesday, March 15th due to inclement weather. The Bulldogs return quite a bit of talent from last year’s team, including state champion triple jumper Ali Currie. The girls team has added basketball standout Amari Baldwin as a sprinter. Bernard Henry is the ‘Dogs head track coach. The Bulldogs host Jay M. Robinson, Gray Stone, and South Stanly today at 4:30 before going down to South Stanly on Thursday.
