Bulldog Basketball Tips Off @ West Stanly

As fall fades into winter, a new season dawns – basketball season. Tonight, the Bulldogs basketball program returns to the hardwood for the 21/22 campaign. The season opens on the road at West Stanly High School. The JV boys play at 5:00, followed by the Varsity girls at 6:15, and the Varsity boys at 7:30.

Under the direction of 8th year coach Eric Davis, the Lady Bulldogs are opening an exciting chapter of the program’s story. The ‘Dogs have youth – plenty of it – as the roster is rounded off with 6 freshmen, 6 sophomores, and 2 juniors. While the roster is young, the team is full of versatile depth. Captained by Mary Grace Krol, Jasmine Brown, and Riley Davis, the Bulldogs have put in a ton of hard work this offseason. Combining that hard work with a wealth of young, versatile talent, gives Coach Davis, the Lady Bulldogs, and Bulldog fans plenty to look forward to this season. After the season opener on the road tonight, the Lady Bulldogs will face Forest Hills in the home opener tomorrow, November 23rd, at 6:00. In the words of Coach Davis, “Our goal is to bring that championship back where it belongs.”

Chauncey Bruton makes his coaching debut tonight as he leads the JV and Varsity men’s teams into action at West Stanly. The varsity ‘Dogs are among the most experienced teams in the AHS athletic program. The Bulldogs will rely on seniors Lucas Megson, Ali Currie, and Slay Jackson for leadership, backed up by an experienced roster. Experience at the Varsity level breeds long-term success as the JV ‘Dogs are able to gain experience before taking over the Varsity reins in the future.

Tickets for tonight’s games can be purchased here: Albemarle @ West Stanly

There will be livestream available with a subscription to the NFHS Network here: NFHS LIVESTREAM

The Bulldogs return home tomorrow for a boys match-up with College Prep & Leadership Academy and a girls match-up with Forest Hills.
